Classé dans : Non classé — Tags : — johnnysanchez1967 @ 15:17

A former collegue used to make these and they were to die for. I only remeber they were made with a yellowcake mix and had ground walnuts in the crust.

Is there a large deposit of oil under the Rocky Mountains of Colorado?

Classé dans : Non classé — Tags : — johnnysanchez1967 @ 11:57

I got an e-mail saying there is an enormous deposit of shale oil under the Rocky Mountains of Colorado Utah and Wyoming. The Green River Formation with 2 trillion barrels.
Does anyone know if this is true.

The oil is there, but the cost to extract it does not make it economically viable at this point. There is the environmental concerns as well since it would essentially require massive open pit mines.

There any many tales of companies going broke trying to tap into these deposits.

I have heard this also. It could be true because it is difficult to get the oil out of the shale.

There could be 1.8 Trillion barrels. Very hard to get to, though.

Spicifically, the ‘green river’ shale comes from the "Green River Formation in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming".

My source says that the "high grade" shale areas in the Green River Formation have "an oil equivalence of about 100 trillion liters".

This is .839 trillion barrels and this is only the most concentrated regions. The area of lower grade shale is about twice greater than the area of high grade shale so It is entirely plausable that there are in total over 2 trillion barrels!!

It sounds like this is true

Some more info:
"The shared property of all oil shales is ‘kerogen,’ a high molar-mass organic material…The organic material in oil shale also contains bitumen, typically around 10% for Green River oil shale, which is a highly viscous crude hydrocarbon that is the principal organic component of tar sands. However the mojor part of the oil is derived from the pyrolosis of karogen…The largest concentrations of kerogen are found in sedimentary non-resivoir rocks such as "marlstone" a mix of carbonates, silicates, and clays…By definition oil shale yields a minimum of 42 liters of oil per shale (written 42 L/t) and up to 420 L/t…these are values are conversions of British units of 10 US gallons per ton and 100 US gallons per ton, respectively."

Dallas Mavericks look for consistency on road trip

Classé dans : Non classé — Tags : — johnnysanchez1967 @ 6:39

31.10.09

"After that game, everybody felt it and everybody’s ready to gear it up a notch," Shawn Marion said Friday before playing the Lakers at Staples Center. "It means playing more consistent, harder and leaving it on the floor. Once you leave it on the floor, good things happen. You start getting consistency. And that’s what we need right now."

It’s called playing with passion and the Mavericks didn’t do it in the opener.

But getting the edge back is something that can happen quickly when a team realizes it underachieved, even if for just one game.

"The reality is if you don’t guard well, you’re going to struggle to win," coach Rick Carlisle said. "We needed to be better defensively. When shots aren’t going down, your defense has to hold you in. And we were unable to do that. It’s disappointing, but you have to move forward."

Carlisle added that he saw a positive sign out of his team by the way they practiced for two days between games.

"They were looking forward to playing after Tuesday," he said. "It’s tough because you’re going out on the road and playing the world champs."

Not only that, the Mavericks on Friday started a set of four games in six days with two back-to-back situations.

"We got to get going, baby," Marion said. "I look at it one game at a time, but you got to look at the big picture, too."

In that regard, it’s never too early to show some backbone.

Remembering 62-61: The Mavericks who were on that team still remember when Kobe Bryant dropped 62 points on them in three quarters before sitting out the final period of a blowout.

The Mavericks had 61 points after three quarters and went on to lose the game 112-90 in December, 2005.

"It’s in the past," Erick Dampier said. "You go out and play the game and not let him score 62 again."

Still simmering: The fun between Mark Cuban and Ron Artest will not stop.

Before Friday’s game, Cuban, who has speculated that Artest could be bad for the Lakers’ chemistry, said he was amused when Artest said that Cuban has to say those sorts of things to keep fans interested, among other things.

"He’s probably mad because I heard he went out with Khloe before L.O. did."

That would be Lamar Odom, who is married to Khloe Kardashian.

That quote should be enough to keep the situation properly stirred.

So this is the point of the cycle we're up to when the Yankees win game 2 against Pedro & think they have hope?

Weren’t the Dodgers in the same position like a week ago? Just Deja Vu to us. This is why I wasn’t here today. I said before the series started we were going to win the WS because winning game one and stealing home field is critical. The rationale was we won each game one of 5 series straight and hadn’t lost. Plus, 11 of 12 of the last World Champions won their respective game one’s. In every series - except for the Philles/Brewers ‘08 NLDS, the Phillies lost every game 2. In fact, we got a very good start out of Pedro in game 2 just the same way we did tonight. And scored the same run total (1) in both of those games. So isn’t it just like history repeating itself again?

I figured there was an 80% chance we’d lose tonight’s game before it started because of this irony. Like I said, I’m a guy all about universal parallels and evaluating energy and intuition. I’m not a stats cruncher. I say what I want. I get what I want. Nothing critical or important is ever wrong. The Phillies have been declared World Champions and it is every Yankees fans job to learn how to live with this.

Question for Phillies Fans though - Isn’t it ironic that the team doesn’t win when I don’t post one message before, during or even a couple hours after the game? If I were to suddenly disappear with my incredible declarations, this team would go down the drain. I am a baseball God and it is everyones job to recognize this baby!

its past you bed time lil joey.

THE OFFICE “Koi Pond” Review (Season 6 Episode 8)

Classé dans : Non classé — Tags : — johnnysanchez1967 @ 7:35

What did you think of tonight’s episode of THE OFFICE , “KOI Pond”?

I really enjoyed it but would have liked to see more Halloween-ness and more about Dwight’s plot to take down Jim. I mean Michael dressed as Justin Timberlake’s’ D’ in a Box song!? I could have watched that all night. The haunted house was also super funny and there were some pretty decent costumes. Creed made an eerily good vampire don’t you think? Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from tonight’s show:

“Looks like somebody has a case of the definitelys” Andy

“Do we have any of those clips that hold paper together”? Michael

Did anyone else feel bad for Michael tonight? At first I felt like he was getting a big fat karma payment but by the end I was feeling sorry for him. The poor guy doesn’t even have 5 friends? Ouch. Do you think Jim was in the wrong for leaning away as Michael was falling? Personally, if I was in my work suit and somebody was about to fall into a big pool of water, there is no way I’m helping that person. It’s every man for himself at that point.

How did you feel about Andy and Pam as a sales team duo? I thought Pam’s reaction to her and Andy as a couple was mean. Andy more than got her back during the second meeting though. I was so happy at the end when Erin told Pam how much she liked Andy. I hope those two get together. Even though Andy is sort of a tool, he deserves to meet a nice girl!

If I had to pick a favorite moment from tonight’s show I’d have to choose the part where we learned that Meredith has had sex with a terrorist. Damn I love this show.
