How did you come up with your dog's name?
We named our puppy "Lambeau."
My boyfriend loves the Green Bay Packers, and therefore I have grown fond of the team as well. So when we rescued our Pit Bull mix, he tinkered with the idea of a Packers-related name. but we couldn’t think of anything that sounded like a reasonable name.

Finally, the name dawned upon me: Lambeau! That is the name of the Packers’ home stadium (and also the founder of the team!)

What’s YOUR dog’s/dogs’ name(s) and how did you come up with it/them?

Lambeau is an awesome name for a dog. lol But then again I am a Packers fan.

All of our dogs got the "honor" of picking their names.

We came up with a handful of names we like and wrote them down on tiny scraps of paper. We then attached them to corresponding treats. Whichever one the dog went to first ended up being their name.

So we have Riley, Emerson, Ginny, Lila, Cater and Tanner.

Dilys - Pembroke Welsh Corgi - name means genuine in Welsh (like Phyliss but with a D) - agility dog

Seren - Collie/Golden mix - short for serendipity (chance encounter) as he was going to be shot and had 2 days left before I got him - therapy dog in training

Don Quixote - ‘Q’ as he is so handsome - our foster dog - dog ski-joring dog

My dog’s name is "Fudgie Buddy".
I came up with this because I’m an only child and i usually hang out with my friends and "buddies" a lot. I came up with fudgie because his fur is very dark brown. My dog is a toy poodle. :) philippines20255 | Jan 30, 2010

We read a book and there was a character in it named Jubilation, he was named that because he had 15 or something sisters and when he was born his father yelled JUBILATIONS! Jubilations means "a joyful or festive celebration", and for a long time we where unsure whether we would be getting our puppy because the breeders had a long waiting list, and when we finally got her we decided Jubilations was a suitable name. She’s called Jube for short ;) Lizzie | Jan 30, 2010

After at least a month of debate, we had reached the point of almost being willing to go with anything. So when my brother was throwing in silly names to which we wouldn’t agree ("Death," "Doom," et cetera), he mentioned "Grim Reaper." That caught my dad’s attention, and he said, "Grim’s not too bad." That then became Grimm because, well, Grimm is cuter and looks better.

Then, after much more debate, we settled on Krueger for our second puppy because it fit with Grimm (you know, both being German, both seeming sort of darkish) and vaguely matched the puppy’s sometimes manic behavior, long nails and penchant for pawing[/scratching] at us.

A picture of the two from awhile ago (Krueger’s since grown a fair bit):

My GSD’s name is Molly. It wasn’t common when we named her, 10 years ago. Her AKC name would have been: Good Golly Miss Molly of (numbers of street) Sweetsen Rd. However, we never registered her (and I think I’m forgetting something in the name. haha. I didn’t chose her name)

My Yorkie/Australian Shepherd mix is named Jinx. I did name him. I wasn’t sure if he was a male or female so I wrote a list of names for each. Jinx was the name that was the most uncommon on the list, and it suits him to a "T"

What is the troops in Iraq's main objective today?
Why are the troops in Iraq still there? I don’t know much about the war, including why they’re there right now. I thought they were supposed to go and change how the country was run, but they’ve been there a pretty long time.

Is it to rid the country of terrorism?

Please help :) Thanks.

It’s an attempt to keep Iraq stable until the Iraqis can do it all for themselves, if we leave now the void will be filled up by Iran, and innocent Iraqi people would be murdered int he tens of thousands or have to submit to the will of a few powerful men. If they were the wrong people we would end up fighting there again soon. If the Iraqi’s had all cooperated when we first drove out Saddam we have already been long gone. The problem is they have had a hard time agreeing who is going to run the place.

Why does it matter if we are there? Our military needs to be somewhere. Even at home young soldiers die. They die of violence or accidents. Iraq provides our military excellent training opportunities. Afghanistan even more. Ironically, our wars have made us stronger.

now saddam is removed and a new government is in charge,
but the country is still unsafe due to sectarian violence especially between the shias and the sunnis in Baghdad,
there was no terrorism in iraq before 2003

Why does everyone believe in the USA that the US represents "democracy and freedom for all"?
in my native Viet Nam, you guys promoted an evil dictator named Ngo Dinh Diem who massacred Buddhists and Viet patriots, in Nicaragua you fought against the sandanistas who fought to bring democracy to Nicaragua against the Reaganite occupiers, the Contras.

you overthrew the leader of Chile Salvador Allende a few days after he won election. you were part of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba when he ruled Congo as the leader when elected by the people.

and yet…you people of America can claim to be about "freedom and democracy"? is this why the world spits on you, the hypocrisy? because for every 1 person who loves America, there are 3 who don’t.

We’re run by two parties, both of them are interventionist fuckheads who support pushing their morality on others(Republicans Socially, Democrats Economically). You’ve made the mistake of moving left in response to being harmed by the so called "right". Libertarianism, is American. I love America, and what it stands for, although I hate the blind faith known as "Patriotism" most Americans love the idea of America, and they will defend it until they die, unfortunately, this idea has been corrupt by these two parties. Your blind faith in Communism is equally stupid, Communism was a way to manipulate and control people. Just as the two-party system is, we need a NO PARTY system.

Those were doing the cold war

The Soviets were backing up Ho Chi Minh along with other communist dictators

Some buddhist temples provided the communists shelter and foods. Diem knew that and ordered his men to search the temples for the communists and some people were killed, then the communist who disguised as buddhlist monks started whining that Diem discrimated against them and that he? was a dictator, and then thousands of buddhists went out to the streets to protest against him and grew big day by day.

So your anger is reserved only for the United States, why not France, a country that initially colonized Vietnam and exploited the country for its natural resources? Why not the Japanese who also took control of the country to help their war effort in the pacific? Once again back to France, who tried to reassert their colonial control over the country, why not them? You can think what you wish about the United States.

The imperial Omura cabinet’s first priority is to repress a rebellion of traditionalist Samurai -hereditary warriors- who remain devoted to the sacred dynasty but reject the Westernizing policy and even refuse firearms. Yet when his ill-prepared superior force sets out too soon, their panic allows the sword-wielding samurai to crush them. Badly wounded Algren’s courageous stand makes the samurai leader Katsumoto spare his life; once nursed to health he learns to know and respect the old Japanese way, and participates as advisor in Katsumoto’s failed attempt to save the Bushido tradition, but Omura gets repressive laws enacted- he must now choose to honor his loyalty to one of the embittered sides when the conflict returns to the battlefield…

ARGGG. Trilogy about ninjas?
Ok so going out on a limb but: about 5 years ago i read what i remember to be a trilogy of fiction books. it might have been two books and i’m 98% sure it wasn’t just one book. the plot was something like a boy who became a ninja. this all took place in japan. of course there was a love story too, something i remember was the scene where they met, i think she was training with kendo or something like that, and when their eyes met it was true love or whatever. the boy infiltrates some castle or something at the climax of the book. if i’m not being influenced by the last samurai, i also believe towards the end there was an army being amassed by some important guy that were using guns and western weaponry. tried looking it up but no luck so far.

Is America really the "land of the brave" and "home of the free" anymore? (Was it ever?)?
Or have we become mall-crawling, Wii- tethered, media brainwashed automatons who can be easily manipulated by corporate corruption and Machiavellian politicians? Is our refusal to face the harsh realities of living in a society ruled by wealth our death sentence? Or have the corporate and financial sector bailouts started waking us up to the fact that " all is takes for evil men/women to succeed is for good men/women to remain silent"?

Do we live in a society where our "leaders" pay lip service to democratic ideals such as "freedom" and "equality" while obviously sucking up to corporate interests at every possible opportunity? Has this country been taken away from by the powers-that-be because we have allowed ourselves to be lulled into a state of passivity and dependency on those same profit driven entities that are encouraging us to become a nation of timid, overweight, dumbed down shadows of what Americans used to be? Or have we always been this way, maybe for other reasons in the past?

Are we truly gullible, spineless, "sheeple" bloated by materialism and lobotomized by the corporate run media? Are there actually any "rugged individualists" anymore, who aren’t afraid to buck the status quo, or voice opinions that are critical of the status quo?

Are we no longer a people that care about liberty and freedom to speak our minds? Or is it that we have NEVER been as free as we have always been told? What about minorities? What about the poverty-stricken? Is it REALLY true that we are all equal and equally free?

Or has this all been just a Big Lie drilled into us from birth by our government and the corporate interests which dictate its policies????

*Footnote: It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to detect my bias, here. The majority of people on this earth DO have a bias, although perhaps not all. This is just a disclaimer to let you know that I don’t expect you to agree with me, but if you DON"T, It would really help me to make this whole thing objective by telling me WHY you disagree? Deal?

It is "the land of the free and the home of the brave". The problem is dumb people like you who can’t even quote the national anthem correctly but think they can solve all the problems. The whole world has problems and most countries have are a lot worse off than America. Things will never really change because we have beaten natural selection so stupid people lead to more stupid people. We have become to reactive, we only start thinking about fixing things when they have gotten so complicated and bad that it is too late to really change them without a total overhaul.
