Shattered Glass

Shattered Glass
Shattered Glass (2003)

IMDB rating: 7.50

Plot: This film tells the true story of fraudulent Washington, D.C. journalist Stephen Glass (Christensen), who rose to meteoric heights as a young writer in his 20s, becoming a staff writer at “The New Republic” for three years (1995-1998), where 27 of his 41 published stories were either partially or completely made up. Looking for a short cut to fame, Glass concocted sources, quotes and even entire stories, but his deception did not go unnoticed forever, and eventually, his world came crumbling down…

I need your opinion!!!!!?
I have posted this question before, and to clarify to some people, yes I have lost someone namely my dad. (By the way I am 15 so please do not comment unless you are serious) Yes i know the poems are sad and morbid but please understand that I have had a rough life.

Okay the following are some poems that i have written. please tell me what you think of each one.

Undertow.

If the world is gone then where will I go.
I’m tossed in the wind like a flake of snow.
No control of where, how, or even when.
I used to know, but this is now and that was then.
When the world collapses around my ears.
No one will be there to see the tears.
Freshly spilled like a river of blood.
Emotions slip out caught in the flood.
I’m grasping at straws with no sense of direction.
Try as I might my life’s far from perfection.
It started as a flaw, a crack in the glass.
Then it grew bigger and I fell flat on my ***.
So, if the world is gone then where will I go?
Do not ask me cause I can hardly know.

Day Break.

Night always comes, inky and grim.
To swallow up day til it fills to the brim.
We all have to wait for dusk to turn day.
But when it does, its worth it we say.
Day is now as perpetual as night seemed.
The sun on our skin as warm as we dreamed.

By: James Casteel

Ephemeral.

Her soul is lost for but a few.
Life extinguished like morning dew.
A life lost is cause for weep.
It’s a mighty wall deaths vines will creep.
When the day is done, and death has won.
Life still shines a burning sun.

Love

Love is like fire it’s hot and it burns.
The one thing in life for which everyone yearns.
The thing I can’t hold, the thing I can’t grasp.
Love holds my heart in it’s clasp.

By James Casteel

Death

People come and people go.
Like the tides we ebb and flow.
Adamant I await for my time to pass.
When death comes to shatter life like glass.
I will look the reaper in the eyes.
Gently as i fall to my demise.

By James Casteel.

Poetry
I am

A river of tears won’t wash me away.
No amount of cries will keep me at bay.
I am the crusher of souls.
For hearts I leave is holes.
The world is awash in me.
Yet no one seems to see.
For I come swift in the night.
When no one will hear the fright.
I am death.
The world is awash in me.

Epitaph

Life is short, though the days are long.
Taking for granted the things i miss.
Birds in the trees singing sweet song.
The touch of a lover a long warm kiss.
The wind in my hair. My feet in the grass.
Pale white moons, and a bright red sun.
So sudden so brief, all things must pass.
Live life to the fullest, do not run.
I wish I knew for my life was brief.
Sliced down like weeds.
My life was a bad one riddled with grief.
Life a product of our deeds.

By James Casteel

You are a talented poet, young man. I rate these poems in a range from 7 to 9 on a 1 to 10 scale…10 being the best. Your father would be proud of your gift. Keep writing and expressing your feelings. I am sorry you lost your dad.

The elephant’s association with Alabama dates back to the 1930 football season when the Crimson Tide was led by Coach Wallace Wade. There are two stories about how Alabama became associated with the elephant.

Officially, following the 1930 game versus Ole Miss, Atlanta Journal sports writer Everett Strupper wrote:

"At the end of the quarter, the earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow. Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, ‘Hold your horses, the elephants are coming,’ and out stamped this Alabama varsity. It was the first time that I had seen it and the size of the entire eleven nearly knocked me cold, men that I had seen play last year looking like they had nearly doubled in size."

Sports writers continued to refer to Alabama as the "Red Elephants" afterwards, referring to their crimson jerseys. The 1930 team shut out eight of ten opponents, allowing a total of only 13 points all season. The "Red Elephants" rolled up 217 points that season, including a 24-0 victory over Washington State in the Rose Bowl.

Another account attributes the Rosenberger’s Birmingham Trunk Company for the elephant association. Alabama used the Birmingham Trunk Company’s luggage to travel to the 1930 Rose Bowl. The luggage company’s trademark was a red elephant standing on a trunk. When the football team arrived in Pasadena, the reporters greeting them associated their large size with the elephants on their luggage.

Despite these early associations of the elephant to the University of Alabama, the university did not officially accept the elephant as university mascot until 1979.

Hey!! I’m the resident Tide aficionado on this site!! Lol! Agave is correct, but I would just like to add that Bear Bryant actually disliked the elephant logo thing.

First of all I would start out with some action like with Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift, then probably something alittle more exciting but scary like either Pet Cemetary or Hollow Man 2. But if you have your g/f over there watch the mask of zorro she’ll like it. Enjoy.
